The first grade of primary school submits the computer program

Sergei Brin was born into a Jewish family in the former Soviet Union. At the age of 5, Brin immigrated to the United States with his parents, thus beginning his American style success. His father, Michael, was a mathematician who had worked in the Soviet Union Planning Commission and taught in a Moscow school.

When he came to the United States, his father, Michael, got a teaching position at the University of Maryland, where he is still a mathematics professor until now. Brin's mother was an expert at NASA.

Because of his outstanding achievements, Brin received a scholarship after receiving his bachelor of science degree, and then entered Stanford University.

At Stanford University, this talented student was once again favored by fate. The university allowed him to skip the master's degree and directly study for a doctoral degree in computer science from Tamford University. However, during his doctoral studies at Stanford, Brin chose to take a break from school and worked with his classmate and friend Larry. Page together created the well-known Internet search engine Google.

Started Google at the age of 24

Brin is deeply attracted by the charm of the Internet. He regards the Internet as the only way to the future. As early as in college, Brin had invented a search system in hypertext language format. In September 1998, Brin, 24, and Page, 25, decided to start a company together. The only service provided by the company was that Brin successfully got the first investment of 100000 dollars from a Stanford alumnus when the search engine knew nothing about the business plan.

Relying on the 100000 dollars, Brin and Page started the journey of Google in a friend's garage. When Google's competitors are committed to becoming portals and investing in search services with a small proportion, Brin goes against the trend and tries to improve its search engine. The usage rate of Google is getting higher and higher. The number of searches per day has increased from 10000 six years ago to 300 million at present. Many advertisers require advertising on Google's website. At the same time, Yahoo, P&G, the US Department of Energy and many other large companies and government agencies have also used Google's search technology, and Google charges licensing fees according to the number of searches released.

As a technical genius, Brin also has no shortage of business talents. In August this year, Brin, Page and their team began to create their own wealth myth. They not only created strange search engine technology, but also tried to innovate on the listing of Googlt - company. They priced their IPO (initial public offering) by auction, which was called "the cleaning of Wall Street" by the American media. Two new billionaires were born in this way.

Carry out the "free lunch" to the end

Brin has his own unique way to make geniuses work more comfortably in the company.

Although there is a saying in the West that "there is no free lunch in the world", Google Brin takes "free" as a part of its corporate culture. The implementation is meticulous: employees have 100% free meals, fitness, massage, laundry, bath and medical treatment; The company's worst computer monitors for employees are 17 inch LCD monitors; There is a cafe on each floor. You can brew coffee and eat snacks at any time. There are all kinds of drinks in the big refrigerator for free.

Brin also allows employees to bring children and pets to work in the company, which is incredible in many American companies. In addition, any important employee of the company has his own independent office, and each office can be decorated according to his own wishes. Brin's office is not very different from others, but the location is slightly better.

Brin also demanded that the company should have an idea ahead of the times. He made an unwritten rule for Google employees: engineers must spend a quarter of their time thinking about great ideas, even if they may be bad for the company's financial prospects. In order to encourage innovation, Brin allows employees to spend 4% of their time doing whatever they are interested in. However, his research achievements will be sold to the company, which will hold a technical competition for employees' innovation ability, with a bonus of 10000 dollars.

Advocate a limited affluent life

Although he became the youngest billionaire in the United States, Brin advocated a limited affluent life and remained frugal, just like ordinary people. It is said that he still rents a two bedroom house and drives a five seat hybrid Toyota Prius sedan, worth about 20000 dollars.

Although Brin has grown into a leader in the new economy of the United States, he still retains a lot of Russian characteristics. People often see Brin in several well-known Russian restaurants in San Francisco. He also likes to invite his colleagues and reporters to taste traditional Russian pudding, borscht soup and caviar pancake pudding. It is difficult for him to give up his feelings for Russia, because it is his parents who cultivated his mathematical talent.
